Job Creation
Internet Niue, the entity created by The IUSN Foundation to run the operations of the island’s Internet service on a day-to-day basis, has also become a popular employment alternative to government jobs for Niueans looking to deepen their knowledge of technology while participating in the local community.
Training and Education
Another important aspect of The IUSN Foundation’s charitable mission in Niue is funding for high-tech training and education for residents. Since 1997, benefits have included:
-
Workshops for new users;
-
Educational CDs for Niue High School;
-
Training manuals for the high school’s computer class;
-
Internet connectivity for the high school and library;
-
Technology transfer and ongoing infrastructure development;
-
Ongoing training of local technical staff (travel and funding for classes in NZ and US);
-
Two full time staff, one part time, rented office, and on-call service for Internet users;
-
"Walk in" Internet services for visiting tourists and other users.
